This two-day course empowers business analysts to design, develop, secure and publish robust Power BI Desktop solutions.
It focuses on model development, and solution-oriented DAX theory and practice.
Overview:
- Work productively with Power BI Desktop.
- Use Power Query, DAX and manually entered data to create import (cached) model tables.
- Configure model relationships.
- Enhance model designs with date tables, hierarchies, calculations and reporting properties.
- Apply DAX to create common model calculations.
- Effectively enforce row-level security (RLS)
- Publish solutions and perform post-publication tasks.
- Determine the appropriate model type (import or DirectQuery)
- Develop DirectQuery models
This course is based on the current offering of Microsoft Power BI, with a focus on business user experiences with the Power BI service.
Prerequisites Attendees must have:
- A general knowledge of data storage technologies and formats, including relational databases.
- Power BI report development skills
- Attendees are required to have their own computer that must meet these requirements:
- A Windows or Mac computer, network-enabled for Internet access.
- A web browser supported by Power BI—for more information, see https://docs.microsoft.com/power-bi/service-browser-support.
- Office Excel 2007, or later—either 32 or 64 bit
- All attendees will be provided with a trial Power BI account to complete the labs.
Attendance: Up to 25 people on site (where possible) or Online via Teams.
